ultrasound, 3d,4d, medicine hat, my forever blessing, 3d4d ultrasound

Q: What is the difference between 3D and 4D ultrasound?

A: A 3d ultrasound is a static 3 dimensional image of your baby and 4D adds the dimension of time, allowing you to see your baby’s movements in the womb in real time. While we provide you with images of your baby (3D), the most amazing part of the 3d/4d ultrasound session is seeing your baby movements inside the womb. Watching them smile, yawn and play with their toes is priceless. We spend the majority of your session in 4D mode so that you don’t miss any precious movements.. All of our sessions are done in 4D mode with the exception of gender determination. At earlier stages of pregnancy a gender determination is done primarily in 2D for better accuracy.

Q: What is 2D ultrasound?

A: 2d ultrasound:  Is the form of ultrasound that for  many years, obstetricians have used to evaluated  pregnancies       ( black and white ) but are quickly shifting to the upgraded technology (3D/4D)

Q:  Do I need a full Bladder for the 3D/4D ultrasound Session ?

A: No, you do not need a full bladder, but if you are less than 10 weeks gestations, It  will be helpful  for better visualization of the baby.

Q:  Best time for a 3D4D ultrasound?

A: I try to get our clients to wait until at least 27-28 weeks. The farther along the more detail you can get in the picture. The only issue with that is the farther along you are the bigger the baby and the less fluid you have. I always feel that 27-32 weeks is a perfect medium. Not too early but not too far along. 3D4D ultrasounds works better with baby fat and good amount of amniotic fluid, also baby position and maternal body habitus will affect results. I do not recommend to wait too long, as bigger the baby less amniotic fluid and less space (less than 34 w)

Q: How the location of my placenta affects the quality of 3d ultrasound images?

A: Many our clients with anterior placenta (in front) often worry that there will be difficulty to seeing their baby during a 3d/4d ultrasound session. A large percentage of our clients have anterior placenta and we are able to scan from the side and around the placenta to see the baby. Sometimes, a baby faces into the placenta, whether it is anterior, posterior (along the back) or fundal (along the top). In that case, we will work to try to get the baby to move away from the placenta. Some of the 3d ultrasound images might have parts of the placenta partially overlapping them. We will do our best to get as much of the face in view as possible but a completely open full face shot is not always available. Also, during a 3d/4d ultrasound session babies are often going to be putting their hands and feet in their faces and may not free up a view of the entire face.

Q: What is Baby Heartbeat Animal?

We recorded YOUR  baby's heartbeats on a sound module during your ultrasound session and inserted it into a stuffed animal of your choice (8 "/ 15" available). This excellent gift can help siblings, grandparents and family members to create a greater bond with the arriving baby . It is also an exclusive gift for any occasion such as gender reveals, baby shower, etc.

Q: Do I need to pay in advance to book/ when booking?

A: No you don't. Not payment in advance is required to book. You pay after service is complete.

Q: What influence a perfect picture of my baby?

A: Many factors affect the quality of the images (fetal position, amount of amniotic fluid, amount of maternal tissue). We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of your baby. If the baby remains "uncooperative" through your session it may be necessary to repeat the scan at a later time when the position has changed. We want you to be happy with the quality of your product and encourage you to share any concerns with us prior to leaving your session.

Q: Is ultrasound safe?

A: The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine’s official statement: No confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operators caused by exposure at intensities typical of present diagnostic ultrasound equipment have ever been reported.

Q: I have an appointment tomorrow. What should I do to be well prepared?

A:  Please do not eat  too much 1 hour prior to your ultrasound, eating  too much may cause the baby to fall asleep in a position hidden away from the ultrasound probe making it hard or impossible to discover gender. Eat something you like or baby likes, like sweet, sour or anything that you know baby will move.

  • If you are NOT Diabetic please bring in a large glass of Orange Juice or Lemonade, and sour skittles to eat and drink in office, while filling out your paperwork. If you ARE Diabetic please bring a large glass of ice water to your scan to drink in the office while filing out your paperwork.

  • Drinking plenty of water a week before the appointment will help for a better skin hydration and the ultrasound wave will penetrate better for an optimal visualization of the baby.( no need bladder full)

Q:What to wear for the scan?

A: Please DO NOT wear a dress, please wear clothes that separate at the tummy, like sweatpants and a shirt.

Q: Can I bring guests to my session?

A: We encourage you to bring your friends and a family to our cozy room.  You are welcome to bring up to 5 people to share and enjoy the show. We believe this experience only strengthen the relationship inside your family and friends.
